In Our Glory

Visual artist, curator and publisher Kay-Leigh Fisher’s practice explores narratives of becoming, and the familiar relationships we develop with objects and how they reinforce ideas around racial and gendered identity. Based in Johannesburg, Fisher holds an Honours in Curatorship from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand. 

Her practice has been shaped through research, curatorial work and residencies, including the Bag Factory Artist Studios Young Woman Studio Bursary and an artist residency at Forster Gallery in Zanzibar.

Her solo exhibition at BKhz offers another opportunity to spend time with a practice concerned with how we understand ourselves, and the objects and ideas through which those understandings are formed.
